Our Heritage Open Days continues with more activity at Burgh Castle Fort on Sunday 14th September 2025,  11:00 – 15:00

With this years theme of Architecture, how could we not include this amazing heritage monument which I have seen bring archaeologists to tears on their first viewing.  Such a beautiful space with such a fine example of Roman building join us for our fun event.  We will have experts on hand to share their knowledge and the history of the fort and school aged children can build a model of their own wall to take home.  Other crafts will include making a model Roman Soldier and a Vexillum – well you will have to come to find out all about those!  There will be a trail to follow on the site so that you can understand the life of a Roman Soldier, and if you enjoy Geocaching there is a fabulous trail on site for you too.

SS Peter and Paul’s church next to the site will open their doors for viewing and you can learn about the links between the church and the fort.  Thank you to the community of Burgh Castle who will throw the doors of the community hall open so that you can purchase refreshments and browse their stalls.
