The Norfolk Archaeological Trust is inviting the public to celebrate the completion of the first phase of works at Moot Hill, Wymondham, with a special ribbon-cutting ceremony on Saturday 3 October at 11am. The event marks an important milestone in the ongoing conservation and enhancement of Moot Hill, one of Norfolk’s most significant archaeological sites. This first phase has been funded by South Norfolk Council. The completed works include the creation of two new public pathways around the perimeter of the monument, improving access while helping to protect the site’s archaeological remains.

Members of the public are warmly invited to attend the opening ceremony and join Trust staff to celebrate the achievement. Following the ribbon cutting, visitors will be able to explore the newly opened routes, which will be accessible daily from dawn until dusk.

Natalie Butler, Director of the Norfolk Archaeological Trust, said:

“We are delighted to be opening these new pathways and welcoming more people to discover Moot Hill. This project is an important step in helping local communities connect with their heritage while ensuring this nationally important archaeological site is protected for future generations.”

The opening also provides an opportunity for visitors to learn more about the Trust’s future plans for the site. Staff will be on hand throughout the event to answer questions and discuss the next stages of the project. Moot Hill is a Scheduled Monument and an important part of Norfolk’s historic landscape. The new pathways have been carefully designed to improve public access while safeguarding the archaeology that makes the site so significant.

The event is free to attend and no booking is required.
